If April showers bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring? PUPPIES!!! ACC Ranch is proud to say we are now a Colorado State Licensed and inspected facility!!! ACC Ranch & Kennels is a 100-acre ranch in the scenic Bijou Basin, located about 30 minutes north of Colorado Springs and about an hour and a half southeast of Denver. We have many animals at the ranch, including horses, cows, llamas, alpacas, cats, and, of course the dogs. Why did we name the ranch ACC Ranch? ‘ACC’ stands for: Assisi’s Country Critters, a tribute to St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of the animal kingdom. He has helped us many times over the years with all the animals, and this is one small way we can thank him. We started with German Shorthaired Pointers almost 8 years ago and have built up a great line of hunting dogs and companions. Currently, we own 5 breeding females, and breed each once per year. Rick is an exceptional gun dog trainer and has trained many dogs right here at the ranch. We also board many dogs, especially during the summer and holiday times. We believe this is a little doggie camp, each dogs has his/her own 5x10 kennel at night, with a dog house, and a yard to play in all day with other dogs (providing they play well with others). About 2 years ago we adopted our first Poodle (OK, I adopted our first poodle, Rick wasn’t real excited about it, but he got over it pretty quickly.)…Remember, both GSP’s and POODLES make great family dogs and hunting dogs…and I really like both their dispositions. So, we now have 10 females and 3 poodle studs… We breed the poodles once per year and have bred some of the hybrid breeds, specializing in Ttoodles (tibetan terrier x poodle) and Whoodles (wheaten Terrier x poodles).Of course we believe our puppies are the Cutest in Colorado, probably the cutest west of the Mississippi! Then there’s our Ranch Queen “Myla”. Myla (Short for MY Little Angel) is a Bichon that gets along with all the animals. We recently acquired three additional female bichons, and a male havanese, and are offering havachons (havanese x bichon frise) on occasion. We spend most of our time with the animals in one way or another…….generally our days begin at 5am walking, feeding and caring for the animals……most days we eat our dinner well after dark, and definitely only after each animal has been taken care of and tucked in for the evening. Many people ask: "What is your specialty at ACC Ranch?"… it’s pretty simple actually, we specialize in breeding great quality pets. Although all of our dogs are top of the line, and could be show dogs, we breed primarily for temperament, health and intelligence. Our puppies go to their new homes very well adjusted, adaptable and true lover dogs. We know not everyone can afford, nor do they want show dogs. We bred a few litters of the Goldendoodles, and learned that many people liked the ‘doodles’ because of their assumed hypo-allergenic and non-shed qualities. When there is one parent that sheds and one that doesn't, a non-shed dog can not be guaranteed. So, we started breeding non-shed to non-shed, therefore can guarantee non-shed in the offspring. There several other things that make us stand out from other breeders: I am a full time dog person (I guess you could say my life has gone to the dogs), so I am with the dogs and puppies 24x7...our house is set up so that the puppies are inside with us, until they are old enough, and weather will allow, for them to go out during the day hours. Our basement is set up so that we have a birthing room, a nursery, a pre-school, and a kindergarden. I figure they go home at grade school age. We have day beds set up in the basement and sleep down with the puppies and new moms for the first 3 days after a litter is born. We are professional breeders, we know dogs and puppies. I am currently working on my Vet Tec certification, and we provide lifetime puppy support for you and your new family addition. We get very involved with each puppy in each litter.
